Synopsis:
Letícia is a young mother who faces postpartum psychosis in her puerperium. With the help of her older sister Helen, she tries to find paths to ease her suffering.
Our Review
Postpartum psychosis is the most severe form of postpartum psychiatric illness. It is a rare event that occurs in approximately 1 to 2 per 1000 women after childbirth as per Google. Its presentation is often dramatic, with onset of symptoms as early as the first 48 to 72 hours after delivery. The majority of women with puerperal psychosis develop symptoms within the first two postpartum weeks. Leticia performance is outstanding, the way she tries to portray her restlessness, irritation, anxiety and frustration. And inability to address the crying baby, the urge to hurt the child and the battle she has to fight against herself is draining. Such films are of high value to the society as there isn’t much awareness by and large. The role of Leticia sister who is the main caregiver is very subdued. A more focus on that would bring to highlight how support is mandatory and the primary need.
