I created the film PAM to depict the mental deterioration of someone battling Bipolar Disorder through the lens of horror. I wanted to provide a metaphoric representation of how I feel during my own Bipolar episodes, since I was previously diagnosed with this disorder as a child. Throughout the film, I incorporated juxtaposing images and clips to induce a visual stimulation of the mental illness. I also made it a single person film to show how one might perceive a mental health crisis, that they in fact endure the feeling of mental isolation. The process of this project took nearly three months. It was an engrossing, but grim process as I attempted to comprehend the character even more so. I even attempted to sense that cataclysmic feeling while composing the script to be able to form a more clear representation of mental illness. This, I hope, gives shape to the kind of BPD I experience; mental health affects folks in different ways, so I hope that this new representation adds a voice to the hat.
This movie is a good attempt to see what one goes through while diagnosed with Bi-Polar, the emotional up’s & down’s cycle. Special appreciations as it’s completely written, acted, directed, shot by a single person who is actually experiencing it and as and when he experiences it. But with extra help and assistance form a small team would have helped in bringing out a quality short film with more video & audio quality & clarity.
