Synopsis

The life story of two men of different ages, but similar at first glance, fate. Alexander seems to have already lived the fate of Kirill, only in the distant past. Meeting with a casual acquaintance stirred up memories and brought back twenty years ago. Did Alexander want to go back to the past? While playing billiards, they have to find out if they are so similar. And who will be right.

Our Review

Kirill is about to become a father. His wife is in critical situation. Money is needed. And Kirill thinks he could get it only by gambling. The inability to control one’s betting urge has triggered the production of movies that educate viewers on the dangers of this high stake addiction. AMERIKAN by Oxana Nechaeva explores the intricate gambling world and the threat that comes along with it. Alexander performance is outstanding. It's total surprise that he will be the savior at the end. Kirill did get lucky but one could see the pain in Alexander eyes and the help that he never got.

Director Biography - Oxana Nechaeva Oksana Nechaeva was born in 1990 in Podolsk, Moscow region, Russia. My parents were students of the Moscow State University Institute. They soon divorced. Since my mother's new family moved frequently, I went to two kindergartens and studied at five schools in the city of Tver, Moscow and the Moscow region. When I was 15, my mother, her new husband and my stepbrother moved to France. I stayed with Grandma, Grandpa and Dad. When I was 17 years old, my father was shot dead near the killer's house. On the eve of my death, my father sends me to study at the Ostankino School of Television and Radio Broadcasting. In 2009, I entered the studio of Leonid Alekseevich Nechaev for a directing and acting course, in the same year I met my future husband Alexey Alexandrovich and also Nechaev. In 2010, she married him for the first time. In 2010, our master Leonid Alekseevich, unfortunately, died, the workshop collapsed, I continued my studies with Daniil Spivakovsky, in 2011 I divorced my husband, something broke inside me, and I realized that I could not be an actress, at least not yet. That's how I got into Dmitry Talankin's non-fiction film workshop. After graduation, she worked in the production group of a musical collective. In 2016, I'm getting married again to my first husband Nechaev. In 2019, my son Vladislav was born. A long maternity leave has again clarified my inner desires and feelings about making films, so in 2021 I enter the Alexander Mitta film school at the Amedia film Studio and shoot my first short film "Daughter".

Director Statement

One day at the screening of my first short film, screenwriter Ilya Veryasov approached me and offered me to make a film based on his script, at first it seemed to me that it would be difficult for me to make a film about a conversation between two men, but soon we started filming, now you can see it turned out or not.
