Director Biography - Sam Callis, Ben Callis Sam has just completed post-production on his Written and Directed Black-Comedy short - ‘Viking’ - starring Sophie Thompson, which is making it’s world premier at the Slamdance Film Festival 2015. His previous Produced/Directed short Thriller - Inside Run - starring Andrew Tiernan, premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and went on to screen on RTE and secure worldwide distribution with Shorts International. In 2011 he won a Script development deal with New Regency/Shine Pictures for his feature Romantic Comedy 'The Stand-In’ and currently has two other completed feature scripts in development with Breakneck Films. After training as an actor at LAMDA Sam has enjoyed a long and successful career, being best known for his leading roles in many ITV and BBC Drama serials and in the Theatre and West End; working with award winning actors and directors including Lindsay Duncan, Derek Jacobi, Olivia Coleman, Ed hall, Howard Davies and Michael Grandidge. Ben produced and directed ‘Viking’ with his brother Sam, taking best Global Short at the Arizona International Film Festival. He also produced the award winning short ‘Whisper’ through Breakneck Films. He and Sam have just completed two feature scripts, which are currently in development and as well as this Ben is co-producing across the slate of Breakneck Films current projects. After training at LCP, Ben worked as a designer at fashion magazines like The Face and iD before enjoying a successful career as a creative director in advertising. During his career he has received numerous international awards including Cannes Lions, One Show, British Television Advertising Awards and D&AD.
