Your Hand

Puglia, 2018. Alessandro is an architecture student about to graduate. Kind and dreamer, he loves to paint to express his moods. To complete his thesis in History of Architecture, his teacher advises him to visit the castle of Belloluogo, later reporting that the castle is guarded by an elderly woman who has consented to the visit. Several days later, Alexander goes to the castle to begin his search. Clelia welcomes him, a shy girl, who says she is the caretaker's granddaughter, now indisposed. Clelia is a bit cold, and cannot bear physical contact, so much so that she does not even shake his hand when it is offered to her and always remains at a certain distance from Alessandro, who is initially a little intimidated by it. When Alessandro, after working on the history of the manor, shows curiosity about what it was like to live in a castle, Clelia decides to tell some of the stories she knows about a princess who lived in the place, which she has heard since she was a child. These stories are full of personal and emotional moments, which leak out and strike Alessandro's sensitivity. Visit after visit, their relationship becomes more personal, and he becomes more and more captivated by Clelia's stories and sweet sadness. Clelia grows fond of her too, happy to be able to tell those stories. On the last day, after the last story, they decide to say goodbye. Alessandro returns home with a sense of bitterness. Alessandro then decides to draw and paint the girl so as not to forget her, and at times he represents her just like the Princess of the stories he has heard. Time passes: Alessandro graduated and receives proposals for a doctorate; day after day, however, Alessandro thinks of the girl more and more often. At his house there is now a large amount of sketches and various paintings. Realizing in the end that he is in love with her, he tries to contact her but fails: according to everyone, this girl shouldn't really exist. Unable to understand the situation, he finally decides to run to the old castle to talk to her. What will he discover?

Our Review:

It is a nice little film about a person who goes to study the architecture of a castle and falls in love with a girl at the castle. The background score is brilliant and Alessia Sirago as Clelia is beautiful. She has acted very we’ll in her role. I wish the film had more depth in the characters. Overall it is a decent watch.
